The Greater Houston Society of Echo and Vascular (GHSEV) is an organization of physicians, sonographers, nurses, students, and industry representatives dedicated to advancing cardiovascular care through education, innovation, and community.
We strive to:

GHSEV Through the Years: A History of Growth and Collaboration
The GHSEV has a rich history of collaboration, innovation, and growth:
- 1997: The Greater Houston Society of Echocardiography (GHSE) is founded, hosting quarterly educational meetings and creating a strong community of sonographers and physicians.
- 2010s: Joint annual meetings with the Houston Society of Noninvasive Vascular Technology (HSNIVT) build goodwill and pave the way for collaboration.
- 2015: The GHSE merges with HSNIVT to form the Greater Houston Society of Echo and Vascular (GHSEV), uniting echocardiography and vascular disciplines under one organization.
- 2019: GHSEV undergoes a rebranding, introducing a new logo and website to modernize its presence.
- 2020-2024: The society refines its governance structure, establishes formal committees, and emphasizes growth, engagement, and continuity under the leadership of dedicated officers and the Board of Directors.
- 2024 and Beyond: With new leadership elected every 2 years, GHSEV remains committed to its founding vision of uniting professionals across disciplines to advance cardiovascular ultrasound.

- Legal Status: The GHSEV is a 501(c) nonprofit organization. Our tax I.D. number is 76-0648140. The articles of incoporation and further financial information about this organization are available from the office of the Texas Secretary of state at (512) 463-5555.
- Objective: To provide a format for those involved in the practice of cardiovascular sonography where matters of education, employment, legislation, and quality can be discussed in a collegial manner
- Membership: Physicians, sonographers, sonography students, researchers, nurses, or allied health professionals engaged in the field of cardiovascular ultrasound in the Greater Houston area
- Governance: The governing body of this Society is the Board of Directors
- Officers: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary
- Board of Directors: The Board of Directors consists of the following: the Officers of the Society; the immediate Past-President; one physician and one sonographer Co-Chair of each Standing Committee; and no less than three (3) Directors at Large elected from the voting membership, of which at least one each should represent the modalities of adult echocardiography, pediatric echocardiography, and vascular ultrasound.
- Committees: Standing Committees include an Education Committee, a Membership and Industry Relations Committee, a Finance Committee, and a Media and Public Relations Committee. Committee appointments are made by the President and are approved by the Board of Directors.
- Elections: Officers and Directors at Large are nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by the Members of the Society.
- Meetings: Educational meetings are held at least quarterly. Board of Director’s meetings are held at least annually.
- Location: Unless otherwise specified, Denton Cooley Auditorium, Baylor St Luke’s Medical Center, Houston, TX. Educational meetings may also be held utilizing our video conferencing platform.

- Vendor display, hors d’ oeuvres, dinner.
