10th Annual Houston Echo Review: Boot Camp for 2019 Echo Board

The 10th Annual Houston Echo Review: Boot Camp for 2019 Echo Board, organized by the GHSEV and Texas Heart Institute, was held from April 4 to 6 at the new Houston Intercontinental Hotel TMC. The three-day course was a total success, and participants seeking to prepare for the upcoming ASCeXAM® or to simply improve their general knowledge of adult echocardiography had an excellent time watching lectures, interactive discussions and case presentations, as well as interacting one-on-one with our outstanding faculty. We want to thank our faculty, including nationally and internationally recognized speakers who were able to join us despite their busy schedules .

The first day featured a phenomenal IAC accreditation workshop, and interesting-challenging cases in adult echocardiography and adult congenital echocardiography. The second day covered a variety of topics including chamber quantification, diastolic dysfunction, valve stenosis, regurgitation and prosthetic valves, stress echo, masses, strain, right ventricle, cardiomyopathies, contrast. The third day covered physics, congenital heart disease, right heart valves, LVADs, pericardial disease, POCUS, CAD, structural heart interventions, M- mode, and several board-question sessions.

For those taking the ASCeXAM® in July, best of luck! We are confident that this course enhanced your preparation. We hope to see everyone again next year. As a bonus to our GHSEV members who were not able to attend the course, we are working on a page featuring the speakers’ profiles and selected lecture slide sets, so stay tuned.
